EASTern RISE explores the rise of the East not through politics, but through people, presence, and perception. Drawing from his time in Southeast Asia and China, Arp Raph creates a series of paintings that reflect the tension between tradition and modernity, certainty and change. Blending the aesthetics of 1950s Chinese revolutionary imagery with contemporary emotion, EASTern RISE invites viewers to reconsider what “progress” and “power” look like today.
